FAQs

For Older Adults

Q: Do you offer courses?

A: We do not offer courses, per se. We do offer daily webinars held at 4:00 pm Eastern Time every weekday on a variety of topics and one-on-one help over the phone or video call (with participants’ permission), all free of charge. Go to our Webinars page to see what’s on this week.

Q: I registered for a webinar but I missed it! Can you send me a link to the video recording?

A: As with all of our webinars, once the recording is ready, the registrants are emailed a link to the recording that is posted to our website. Or you could access all of our recordings on our website at https://cyberseniors.org/free-tech-help/previous-webinars/.

Q: How can I subscribe to your weekly newsletter of your upcoming webinars?

A: On our home page, just below the webinars in the What’s on This Week section, you will see “Sign up to Receive our Newsletter and Weekly Webinar Schedule”. Enter your email in that box and click Sign Up. We send out the newsletter every Thursday afternoon.

For Mentors

Q: What volunteer opportunities are available?

A: Most of the opportunities available are to help with our daily webinars at 4:00 PM Eastern Time each weekday, or with our one-on-one help sessions with an older adult over the phone or video call (with the participant’s permission). Some volunteers may also have the opportunity to prepare webinar presentations or host a webinar, earning extra volunteer hours. Once you have volunteered a few times, you may be approached to help with additional opportunities.

Q: I’ve registered as a volunteer and logged in. What do I do now?

A: The next step is to complete the Mentor Training Program. Go to the Get Trained tab and complete the items in all of the tabs.

Q: I need my school form signed to verify my volunteer hours. Can someone at Cyber-Seniors do that?

A: We designed the Volunteer Hours report on your Cyber-Seniors Dashboard specifically to satisfy the requirements of schools for paperwork, with a signature. Please generate a Volunteer Hours report and submit it with the form to your school to confirm your volunteer role and hours with us.

Q: I’m applying to medical school and including my Cyber-Seniors volunteering on my application. Is there someone at Cyber-Seniors who can verify my hours? Can someone at Cyber-Seniors be a verifier for my activity?

A: Congratulations for pursuing university, and thank you for including Cyber-Seniors in your volunteer experience. Given the limited contact that we have with volunteers, we are not prepared to make statements about a particular volunteer’s skills and work record. Thus, we developed the Volunteer Hours report that is designed to provide information about Cyber-Seniors and what volunteers do in the course of their assignments. However, if you need someone at Cyber-Seniors to verify the hours you earned volunteering with us, please email your request to info@cyberseniors.org.

For Organizations

Q: I am conducting a study on activities of older adults. Would Cyber-Seniors distribute a survey to your participants?

A: Given the work that we do, we often get requests from researchers interested in surveying our participants. Unfortunately we strive to keep our participants’ environment free for them to learn and not to inundate them with requests to complete surveys. Therefore, we will not be able to distribute a survey to them.

Q: I am part of an organization and am interested in partnering with Cyber-Seniors. Can I provide a guest post or materials to share with your participants to introduce them to our work?

A: Regarding how an external partner could be helpful, people regularly access our Partners Directory to find resources in their area. Also, you can increase awareness of your services by sponsoring any number of webinars or our services. Email us at info@cyberseniors.org to be added to our Partners Directory or to request a meeting to discuss our sponsorship opportunities.
